The title of this exercise is "The Unreliable Third". The idea is to write from a third-person perspective while being obviously biased toward a certain character's thoughts and feelings. Trust

They were out to get him. They were. He had called out into the depths of space to retrieve them, especially for the sake of tracking down the last remaining true Saiyan. He was just that afraid of him. At the news, if Vegeta had still had his tail, it would have been puffed up with pride.

Or tucked between his legs in fear.

It was the Ginyu Force Frieza had sent. Not just some bumbling morons from his guard crew back at the ship. No, these were special morons. Incredibly powerful morons, who had made it very clear from the beginning that they were not on Vegeta's side. The Saiyan had never known that it was possible to feel flattered and insulted all at the same time as piss-yourself scared. There really was no in-between in this case.

The situation might not have been so bad, had the Earthlings not been against him, too. The half-breed and the petrified monk - both hated him. They expressed it in their tone of voice each and every time they addressed him. They were mistrustful. Gohan and the little baldy would betray him the second they got the chance. He could see it in their eyes; Feel it in their features. How dare they plot against him! But then, they were Earthlings.

Never trust an Earthling.

After hearing of the Ginyu Force's being dispatched, Vegeta had fled. That was the only way to stay alive. He couldn't possibly hope to take them all on. Or could he? Separately, he was probably stronger than each of them by now. He was, after all, a Super Saiyan. Perhaps the Earthlings shouldn't be discounted entirely, either. They would need protection.

Being the selfless person that he was, Vegeta decided to track them down. Yes, he had made the decision to help the Earthlings survive the Ginyu assault. Vegeta was a stand-up kind of guy.

He had stepped in when the Force was looking to take their first casualties of the planet. As he stood before them, the half blood and the little cue ball had stared at him in disbelief, the older of the two even going so far as to rub his eyes to assure himself that it was really Vegeta. Idiots - both of them.

And so it was that the prince, in an utterly selfless act of kindness, had saved Gohan and Krillin from the deadly attacks the Ginyu Force had rained down upon them. Oh, yes, it was true. The warrior-prince had delivered them from danger, and all he asked for in return was the grating of his one wish: Immortality. After such an act, how could anyone deny their benevolent savior any request?

But, alas, it was true. After all they had been through together. He had saved their lives and in turn they had rejected his entreaty to them without even considering its implications. What a couple of complete assholes.

As always, reviews (especially concrit, in this case) are very much appreciated.
