AN: Yandere Simulator is my main source of (inaccurate) information about Japanese culture, feel free to politely correct any misconceptions. Also, Google Translate is know to be inaccurate, but that's what I'm using, so feel free to correct my Japanese too.

Disclaimer: I do not own Yandere Simulator.

All day I anxiously stared out the window, unable to focus on my Japanese studies. Today was the day that I will find out if everything I have been working for the last two years was worth it or a waste of time and energy. I looked back at my laptop and tried to finish my test, but I couldn't. Instead I put on my headphones and listened to my favorite song while looking out the window, waiting for the mail to come.

I had been listening to music for nearly an hour when I saw the mail truck come up to our house. As soon as it drove away I took off my headphones and raced outside. I filed through the junk mail and newspapers, and found the envelope I had been looking for.

I took a deep breath in and opened the letter.

"Dear Ms. Hamilton,

We congratulate you on your acceptance to Akademi High School. Your scholarship has been approved and we are glad that a mind as bright as yours will be attending our school. Along with your tuition being paid in full, your exemplary status has also earned you paid housing for the time that you will be attending here.

We would like correspondence immediately on measurements for your uniform along with visa paperwork. We would also recommend arriving in Japan by Saturday, August 20 to have enough time to settle in as the school year starts on the 31st.

Non-native students must choose and appropriate Japanese name to be addressed by their classmates with.

We wish you success in your school career,

Kocho Shayona, Headmaster of Akademi High School"

I reread it, unbelieving. I was going to Akademi High, one of the most prestigious schools in all of Japan! I was bursting with excitement as I ran inside to call my friends and to ask them for advice on what my Japanese name should be. I could just go with Marī Hamiruton, which is just my name in Japanese. My friends were of little help, Lauren suggested Sumātona Hito, which literally means smart person (not to mention she got it from Google Translate). And the others suggested various anime and manga characters.

Oh, and they suggested that I should keep a journal of my time at Akademi. I'm thinking they're right.

Well, now I've got to go tell mom the news.
