"Now my pet, say goodbye to life as you know it!" Danarius' voice sneered, echoing in Annabelle's head. Strapped to a table in the nearly pitch-black room was Fenris. She screamed when she saw him, wanting to go to him, tell him she'd protect him at all costs, but alas, she was helpless to do anything but scream, cry and beg as her hands and feet were magically restrained and she could move no part of her body except her eyes.
"Fenris! No! Danarius, stop, I'll do anything!" she shouted loudly, but her cries echoed in the lonely dark room. Fenris cried out to her.
"Annabelle, don't forget me! Promise me you'll avenge everything he's done to us!" he struggled against his bonds and then disappeared before her eyes into thin air.
"Nooo!" Hawke was sobbing now. "Please! I'll do anything!"
"Anything?" the taunting voice returned, "You are to blame for this, my little Goldie, you and all those who think they can escape my wrath! But now my pet will suffer for it!"
She blinked away more and more tears until she could just see Fenris, who had reappeared in the dark room. Danarius' voice rang out with malicious laughter and Annabelle called out to Fenris desperately.
He was silent, and she knew right away something wasn't right with him.
Then she felt the ultimate despair. Fenris's memory of her was gone, all that was left was agony, for both of them.
Two months after they'd returned from the Tevinter Imperium, Annabelle awoke with a start. Fenris, beside her, was in what looked like a blissful sleep, and the sunlight was not yet seeping through the red curtains. She held him close, praying to the Maker that he'd not endured the nightmares she had.
"Never again, Danarius. " She whispered, tears in her eyes. "You will not have him, ever."
Fenris awoke to her touch and he rolled over sleepily to meet her adoring yet teary gaze.
"Are you alright, Belle?" he asked softly, as he noticed the tears. "Bad dreams?"
"It seemed so real." She sighed and hugged him even closer. "I love you. Promise me you'll always remember that."
Fenris kissed her forehead gently. "I will, always."
