Beginnings didn't used to be so hard. Stories tend to have very definite beginnings. The Winchester's story began with the death of their mother, the taste of demon's blood, and the smell of ash that lasted for days afterwards; with the occasional flashback, of course.
But with Castiel, the beginning was never clear. Many would say it began when Castiel pulled the righteous man from the flames of hell, but Castiel was not unchanging before then. The story could just as easily start with Gabriel leaving heaven. Or Aniel joining the humans she loved so much. Or the moment of Castiel's creation, millennia before the glimmer of earth in the Creator's eye.
Or Lucifer's rebellion.
Castiel is an angel. Time means little to him. Angels do not have a 'this happens first, and then, and then', there is no chain of evens that can be mapped in human terms. While this is all great for angels, it really makes for a hard time coming up with his beginning.
just a little snipet I've had going through my head for a while, thought I'd share. I'm thinking of maybe adding more? pulling a prophet and recording Cas's life story as best I can... eh, idk, just a thought.
hate it? detest it? feel sickness at it's very existence? lay it on me!
