Contradictions are interesting,
Are they not?
Fire resists ice,
Ice resists fire,
At least that's the case,
In nature.
But humans, ah,
We defy nature,
Making the law our own,
Turning it around,
Forming convolutions
That we do not understand.
But why do I ramble,
And muse on such things,
When its proof sleeps,
Just a few feet away,
And rests in my heart so gently,
Keeping it warm?
Even that head,
Burning flame of desire,
Cannot chase away the chill.
Maybe she can?
Maybe she will?
Dare I hope?
Can you make these hard lips smile?
Can you make this cold heart laugh?
Fire attracts ice,
Ice beckons fire,
This is the contradiction,
To myself I present.
I am made up of three things now:
Stone that toughens,
Ice that chills,
Love that lives…
But…
Ice melts with spring,
And stone wears away,
Leaving but love;
I think it's here to stay.
