Disclaimer: I don't own Loveless.
Kio Kaidou was going to get his man. He watched Sou-chan from the bushes across the street from the elementary school. He was talking with that sixth-grader, Ritsuka Aoyagi and some sixth-grade girl. That pervert! That pedophile! If he wasn't careful, Sou-chan would soon end up in prison as a sex offender.
So, Kio had to remove his perverted friend from the danger. Sou-chan needed him, Kio knew it; he was just waiting for Sou-chan to figure it out.
Yayoi Shioiri was going to get his girl. He watched the lovely Yuiko-san from the classroom window. She was talking with Ritsuka Aoyagi and some university student. That Casanova! That heartthrob! If he succeeded in stealing his Yuiko-san, he would be in a world of hurt. Yayoi sighed. A world of hurt? Who was he kidding? If Ritsuka danced off with Yuiko-san, there wouldn't be a thing he could do about it. All he could do was never give up and hope that Yukio would notice him someday. A growth spurt would also be helpful…
Kio marched toward Sou-chan and the sixth-graders. This would end now. Sou-chan would go home with him, not Ritsuka Aoyagi.
Yayoi marched down the stairs toward the entrance to the school. This would end now. Yuiko-san would go home with him, not Ritsuka Aoyagi.
"Hey, Ritsuka-kun, Soubi-san, do you guys want to come over to my house for dinner?" Yukio asked.
"Sure, why not?" Soubi shrugged.
"Sounds good to me," Ritsuka said.
Kio and Yayoi gaped as their respective love interests walked away with Ritsuka Aoyagi. Yayoi felt hot tears beginning to drip down his face. After all that self-talk, Yuiko-san just walked away. He had promised himself that he would never give up, but sometimes it seemed like the only option.
"Um… don't cry, little boy," Kio said awkwardly. "You were after the girl?"
Yayoi nodded.
Kio wasn't quite sure how to handle the situation. He took the boy in his arms, patted him on the back, and said, "There, there." He really felt bad for the kid. He wasn't a bad kid or anything, just not quite as good-looking as Ritsuka Aoyagi. He wasn't bad-looking in any case…. Kio felt himself turn red. Here he was, prepared to remove Sou-chan from a very sticky situation, and he was falling into that same situation himself.
"Hey, mister? You don't have to hold me like that," Yayoi sobbed.
"Hey, kid, how would you like to go to the park, get some ice cream maybe?" Kio didn't let go.
Yayoi looked up at the strange man. He had sworn to keep going after Yuiko, but… There was something very strange about this man, something that made him think of giving up Yuiko…
"All right, but I don't have any money…" Yayoi didn't seem any harm in it.
"It's okay, I'll pay," Kio said as they left the school.
The two that weren't quite loveless, but definitely luckless, were at the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
