Kiki Delaine

She felt like she should recognise the face staring back at her, it was her own after all. She was wearing makeup, but for once it wasn't used to mask the girl underneath. Kiki Delaine had mysteriously shadowed eyes; luxurious black lashes, flaring red lips, and always a touch of glitter. The girl staring back through the mirror though, had none of these. She wasn't Kiki Delaine. The girl in the mirror was plain old Patricia and it was understandable she didn't recognise the face. She hadn't been Patricia in over 4 years. There was only one time in the last 4 years when she'd let herself revert into Patricia, although the face staring back from the mirror then had been anything but plain. The last time she let herself be Patricia, she'd found herself staring at a face painted blue and purple. Disfigured by a violent man she'd been paid to please.

She didn't know quite what to think of this version of Patricia. It wasn't even the same Patricia from before il Paradiso. This Patricia was older, aged beyond her years. Her eyes were cold and filled with secrets and her lips no longer found an easy position tilting upwards in a smile. This Patricia was wane and weak, where Kiki had always been so bold and strong. Mr Lyon had said she would be taking control by letting her secrets go, but it didn't feel like it. She felt like she was powerless sitting in that chair awaiting the interview to start.

It wasn't until the end of the Hour that she realised the truth. Mr Lyon always told the truth in the end. He'd been right after all. She'd released her secrets and now she could see with clear eyes. Kiki Delaine had been a mask on a mask. She'd shown the world a bold face, when all along she'd been the weakest of the bunch. She'd thought Kiki was strong and Patricia weak but by letting Kiki go, Patricia had found her strength. She wasn't a fucking whore anymore. She wasn't Kiki Delaine anymore.

AN: It's real a shame this series didn't receive a third season. It's such a great cast, with extremely compelling characters. This is just a little drabble I felt the need to write about the emotions presented by Hannah Tointon in the last episode. I do plan to write an extended story - like many others, following from the series and focused on Freddie and Bel.
