Floating.
This was good. This was what he craved.
Floating in an endless green fog of dreams. Oblivion is what young Inspector Abberline sought in the opium den, and oblivion is what he found – until the doggedly faithful Sgt. Godley found him, as he inevitably did, and rudely dragged him from that pleasant dreamland into the real world. The burly Sergeant always found him and so, even in his dreams, Abberline anticipated Godley's harsh "Wake up!" and the slap in the face he used to force the Inspector out of his narcotic slumber. It was like a little comedy they played out between the two of them. Though Godley didn't think it was very funny..
