Hey you guys! Hope you have liked my stories so far. This is the last one I'm gonna do for 2 weeks cause I'm going to the Bahamas! Anyway, here's my new story!
Disclaimer: I don't own anything or anyone that has to do with CSI. I only own Jake Grissom and that's it.
Summary: While at a baby shower for Warrick's wife Tina (yes they got over their argument), Grissom has a little trouble adjusting to fatherhood.
A/N: In this story Jake is 7 months old and he babbles. When my nephew was that age he used to do that too and he would always repeat 'Ya' over and over again in a row and I used to say it back to him. Therefore, I awarded myself the name 'Yaya'. This is where I got the idea for Brass to be called 'Bubu' by Jake. So if you see that, that is what it is. IT IS NOT JAKE'S FIRST WORD!
New Daddy
Gil sat at the picnic table in Warrick's backyard. Warrick and Tina were having a baby shower and the whole graveshift crew had been invited. Jake Grissom sat on the table in front of his father, reaching for his face and babbling.
Grissom leaned towards his son. "What are you saying?" Brass came up behind him and put his hand on Gil's shoulder. "I think he wants your glasses, Gil." Grissom quickly went into action, taking them off and putting them in his pocket.
When Jake realized he wasn't going to get his prize, he let out a cry. "Oh, no Jake. Don't cry. Shh, it's ok, daddy's here." Gil went to pick him up but he turned towards Jim. By now, everyone was focused on them.
"Bubu! Bubu!" Jake cried, hands held out to Brass. Not knowing what else to do, Jim picked his godson up, soothing him immediately. Grissom looked around the yard, noticing that everyone was staring at him. He stood up and walked out the gate of the fence, slamming it behind him. He walked out front and rested his head against the window of his car.
He could feel tears forming in his eyes. Two arms slid around his waist and he felt Catherine put her head on his back. "You want to talk about it?" He turned around, leaning against the car, and pulled her to him. "I can't even get my own son to stop crying," he choked out. He tilted her head back so he could look into her eyes. "What kind of father am I?" he whispered.
She squeezed his arms. "A new one." He looked away and sighed. "He hates me, doesn't he?" Catherine tried to suppress a laugh. "Gil-he's 7 months old. If you think he hates you now, wait until he's a teenager. Besides, he loves you! He goes crazy when you walk into the room. He goes into fits of giggles and points."
At this he smiled. "Now," Catherine began. "What do you say, he head back in? This is Warrick and Tina's day and I would hate if we ruined it." They walked back in, hand-in-hand. Brass was sitting under a tree with Jake while the adults and Lindsay played cards at the table.
Jake lifted his little head to see his parents walk into the backyard. "Dada!" Everyone looked up at the baby's exclamation. Gil had stopped walking and was staring at his son who was pointing at him and laughing. "Dada!" He tugged on his Uncle Jim's shirt and pointed to his father. "Dada!" Catherine turned to Gil, who was beginning to cry, tears welling up in her eyes too. "See? Fits of giggles and pointing at his favorite 'Dada'."
The End!
Let me know what you thought! I'll write some more when I get back. The next story is gonna be either "Babies and Bugs" or "Chocolate Chip Pancakes". You guys can choose which one you want. –CarlyGrissom
