The Lake House Effect
Chapter 1: Nightfall
T'pol entered her quarter's right after shift on the enterprise. She undressed and got in her nighttime clothes. She lies down on her bed and read a Vulcan novel that had appeared in her quarters a week ago.
It was futuristic and interesting. Most of the books she read were Veronica Fletchers Captain Proton novels. They were also interesting. She turned the lights down low and continued on chapter fifteen.
She finished the book quickly. It was o' twenty two hours and she saw something on her table next to the window. Had that been there before?
She questioned herself. She got put of her bed and examined the object. It was a letter addressed to her. She opened it and it read,
T'pol,
My name is Simon Tarses. I found your copy of Captain Proton in my quarters a week ago. I'm not sure how it got there. Please come claim it at my quarters on deck 2 room 10. Also my Vulcan novel went missing and I'm wondering if you have it?
-Simon Tarses
Tarses dropped the letter on his table in his quarters on enterprise.
He had no idea how her book got in his quarters. He had never heard of a T'pol on the ship. The book was signed from over A hundred years ago which made no sense. He layed in his bed and continued to read the novel. It was odd and different.
When he shut the book it was o' twenty two hundred and the letter was gone and replaced with his book and a letter. He hadn't even delivered the letter? He stood up and opened the letter that read,
Simon Tarses,
I am Sub commander T'pol. Here is your book. Something I find odd is your quarters are the same as mine in enterprise. May I have my book back? I don't know how you got in my room and left me the letter. But please explain and tell me why you are playing jokes on me and how.
I'm curious.
-T'pol
She finished writing her letter and set off for bed. Not understanding how this was happening. She lies on her pillow and fell asleep instantly thinking back to the Vulcan novel she had read.
Tarses starred at the letter. The same as his? This makes no sense. It wasn't a joke. He had put his book on the table one night and the next morning his book was gone and replaced by her book. He decided to go to bed and figure this all out in the morning. Something was going on and he would find out.
