A/N: This is an idea I got while I was listening to my iPod in bed. It's based on the song Vanilla Twilight by Owl City. These weren't the original characters I was thinking of, but decided things would make more sense this way. Anyway, enjoy. Also, I will update my other story "A California Love Story" today.

Luke lied in bed alone, thinking about his boyfriend, Reid Oliver. Reid had gone a business trip in Dallas and wouldn't be back until next week.

'Cause I wish you were here

Luke closed his eyes and started to think about his relationship with Reid. They'd only been dating for 8 months but to Luke, it was the best 8 months of his life. He loved how Reid put his arms around him. He really did wish Reid was there with him.

I'll watch the night turn light-blue
But it's not the same without you
Because it takes two to whisper quietly

The silence isn't so bad
'Til I look at my hands and feel sad

Luke lied in absolute silence, not really minding it. He looked at his hand and that's when his heart began to ache. He wished the spaces between his fingers were filled.

I'll find repose in new ways
Though I haven't slept in two days

Chills me to the bone

But drenched in vanilla twilight
I'll sit on the front porch all night
Waist-deep in thought because
When I think of you I don't feel so alone

Luke knew he wasn't going to be able to sleep so he got up and went outside to sit on the back porch. The porch wasn't really any help. He was waist deep in thoughts of Reid. But the thought of Reid made him feel not alone.

Luke couldn't stop thinking about Reid.

Luke went back inside and lied on the couch. He slowly drifted off to sleep. When he woke up the next morning, he was in bed and with someone else. He turned around to see who the person was and to his surprise, it was Reid. He smiled and went back to sleep.
