This poem is about how Faramir strives for his father's love. It shows how as a child he wanted to be "daddy's boy" and even now as a man he still wants his father's approval, yet somehow it always seems just out of reach.

Will He See Me?

If I am rough

If I am wild

If I am never filled with guile

If I am smart

If I am skilled

Perhaps he will set down his quill...

And see me.

If I am quiet

If I am bold

If I receive the strength of old

If I am tall

If I am stern

Then maybe he, at last, will turn...

And see me.

If I am quick

If I am proud

If I can speak the truth aloud

If I am tough

If I am wise

The maybe he will raise his eyes...

And see me.

If I am terse

If I am hard

Maybe my path will be unbarred

If I am far

If I am near

Then maybe this time he will hear...

And see me.

If I am swift

If I am clear

If I am just like Boromir

If I am calm

If I am brave

Maybe this day he'll be amazed...

And see me.

If I am lost

If I am found

Perchance he will no longer frown

If I am gone

If I am dead

May-hap he will lift up his head

And see me...

If he will think

If he will know

I wish he would remove my load

If he will call

If he will see

Maybe for once he will love me

Perhaps even smile upon me

Oh, Lord above if he will only...

Have faith in one who's lost at sea.

Will he someday turn to me?

Will he...will he truly see...

Will he see...

Me?
