Blame it on the Water

More fun with Daniel and Vala – trapped on a planet for two years, wonder what they did? Very short oneshot! Nothing much to it...

"Well, son of a bitch!" Daniel yelled out from under the DHD.
Trying to peek inside, Vala pushed his shoulder back and leaned in. "Somethings wrong with it, I mean more then the obvious 'it doesn't work'?"
"The dialing crystals are all shot to hell!" Daniel scooted out, stood and brushed his hands on his BDUs.
"What! We were here just an hour ago, seeing Mitchell and Muscles off! It couldn't have gotten broken while we went back for that map!"
"Well, it did." Daniel snapped out.
"That can't be, move out of the way Daniel..." Vala shoved him aside, kneeling in front of the DHD panel. "...and let an expert...oh crap, the dialing crystals are shot to hell." Biting her lip, eyebrows scrunched, Vala moaned as she stood to face Daniel. "We're stuck, right?"
"Yep."
"Oh well, they'll check in when we don't show up." She tried to smile bravely.
Annoyed, Daniel narrowed his eyes. "It's not just the dial out part, Vala."
Rolling her eyes at his stupidity, Vala grouched, "Well, Samantha will fix it!"
"She'd have to be here." His smart ass tone wasn't lost on her.
She shot back with a tone of utter exasperation, sing songing her words. "Then someone will swing by and pick us up!"
"The orbital moons create an unsteady gas, very volatile... no beaming, no shuttles, no rings – it was in the report, by the way." His lip curled in a contemptuous snarl.
Vala slapped his arm, "Son of a bitch!"
"Now you've got it. And that hurt."
Gently rubbing the spot she'd just walloped on his arm, Vala asked softly, "Now what?"
He looked down at her upturned face. "Wait for the moons' cycles to move into a steady orbit."
"How long, darling?" She asked with a bit of dread.
Frowning, he touched her cheek. "'bout 24 to 38 months,"
"Oh." She breathed quietly, concern evident in her eyes.
"Right. Don't worry, we should be okay."
"Daniel, I'm hungry."
"Might not be the last time."
Vala puffed up, glaring once again. "Thank you Mr. Positive! What are we going to do for the next two years or so?"
Daniel shrugged. "I don't know, we should plan that. What'da you want to do?"
Vala arched a brow. "Hmm, weeellll."

Twenty six months later.

Daniel and Vala suddenly found themselves beamed onto the deck of the George Hammond.
Mitchell's grin went flat and he pointed at Daniel. "How'd that happen?"
Smiling at the toddler on his hip, Daniel shrugged, turned to Vala and pointed at her growing belly, "Same way that did, I guess. I think it was the water."
