I do not own the TMNT
He had locked himself in his room over an hour ago. Normally they expected this kind of behavior from Raph, but Michelangelo was far from a recluse, he had to be feeling terrible about this entire situation.
Leo sighed and rubbed his eyes before lifting up a fist and tapping on his 'little' brother's door. "Mikey?"
"I'm not coming out! Not until he's okay."
"Mikey, shutting yourself in your room isn't going to help him get any better."
"At least I'm not making things worse!"
Again Leo sighed, he could hear from Mikey's tone and his attitude the guilt he was carrying right now. "Mikey, Don said he would be all right, it'll just take some time."
"So I'll spend the time not causing any more damage!" There was a hint of self loathing in Mikey's voice now that made Leo's throat tighten.
"Mikey…please, just open the door. I hate talking to you like this." There was silence on the other side of the door. "Mikey, come on, you're beginning to worry Master Splinter." Another minute of silence and Leo decided that maybe it was best if he left.
Just as he had turned to leave he heard Mikey's door creak partway open. Leo turned to see his brother peaking out the door with one of those looks on his face that had labeled him as the youngest, so vulnerable and scared.
"Don said he was going to be all right?" Leo nodded. Mikey glanced down for a minute before meeting Leo's gaze again, "Do you think I could see him?" Leo nodded again and Mikey slowly came out of his room. Together they walked over to the infirmary. Leo looked at Mikey who nodded. Then he gently knocked on the door. Donatello opened it and let his brothers into the dimly lit room.
"I've been trying to keep him calm, but I think it'll be okay if you talk to him." Don said.
Mikey went over to the bed and sat down carefully on the edge, then slowly pulled back the blanket.
"YEOW! ACK! ACK! ACK!" Klunk ran around the inside of his cage like he had jet fuel for blood. His eyes were wide and he seemed almost insane.
Raphael came to the door and snickered. Donnie just put a brotherly hand on Mikey's shoulder, "Use this as a learning experience Mikey. I think we can all agree that Klunk doesn't get any more catnip from now on."
Someday I shall write a tale of great drama and angst.
But not today!
