Summary: Inspired by Natalie Merchant's song, "My Skin". Mulder dwells on the pain in his life, and the pain he causes Scully. Can they make it through their past?
"Is it dark enough, can you see me? Do you want me? Do you need me?"
Fox Mulder sat in his apartment thinking only the darkest of thoughts. His mother was dead of her own hand, and his search for his sister was futile from the beginning. He laughed bitterly. Fool's luck… and now he was soon to have nothing. He needed Scully oh so badly in his life, but didn't in the least bit deserve the kindness, loyalty, and love she gave him. Because, what did he give her in return? Cancer. Pain. Death of family members. If it hadn't been for him she wouldn't be barren. She could hold her own tiny baby in her hands, and not have to watch her die as she did her own daughter Emily. Again, his fault. He sighed. He was soon to rid her of the pain and the burden in her life that was himself.
