"Achoo!" Edward gave another sneeze, followed by a series of sniffles and whines. He grabbed the tissue from the box beside him and wiped his reddened nose, coughing as tears formed in his eyes. He groaned. "I hate being sick," he declared, resting his head into the pillow after cleaning up his running nose. Al sat by his side on the bed, stroking his brother's golden hair back. "It won't last forever Brother. You'll feel better soon," he promised, giving his usual sweet smile. Ed returned the smile, before bursting into another sneezing fit.
It was Al who reached for the tissue this time, fixing up his older brother's mess. "It's strange, I never pictured myself babying you this much," he joked, tossing the used tissue into the bin beside the bed. Edward scoffed, before coughing once more. Al gave a tiny laugh, continuing to stroke his brother's hair. "Well, if you stay with me like this, you'll end up getting sick too, and once I'm better I'll have to look after you," Edward moped, resting his tired eyes. Al shook his head. "I don't care, really. It's worth it," he blushed, moving his hand from Ed's bangs to his hot cheek.
Edward was hot enough as it was, and the blushing wasn't helping. He gave a heavy sigh, fatigue getting the better of him. Alphonse took the thermometer from the bed-side table and placed it in Ed's mouth. After a minute he removed it and read the results. "You've cooled down a little since yesterday, but you still have a high temperature," He explained, standing up. "And you don't have any more water, I'll go get some."
After he was gone, Ed was finally able to let out a frustrated sigh. "He's acting like a parent or something...I don't need to be looked after like this...and I'm honestly not too fond of caring for him when I'm better and he's sick," he complained, shakily crossing his arms. He closed his eyes, trying to drift off to sleep- at least he could sleep off the sickness.
Al silently walked in, a glass of water in hand, seeing his older brother finally resting. He gave a tiny smile. As quiet as possible, he tip-toed over and placed the water on the bed-side table. He'd go occupy himself while Edward recovered, and tend to him once he awoke. Before leaving, he placed his hand on Edward's burning forehead, bending down and kissing it softly. "Get well soon, Brother," he smiled, before stepping back and heading out of the room.
