"Ah, another long day of teaching in the books." I sighed as I plopped into my chair. All my lilies had left for the day. They seem to be getting the hang of the basics now. I'm actually pretty proud of them. I slammed my foot on the ground and launched the cup of water next to my rock lounge chair into the air and was about to catch it but I figured it'd be cooler if I caught it on the way down and let the water drop into it, like that June lady. She was pretty awesome. I held out my hand and listened for the sloshy sound so I could catch my cup to amuse my non-existent audience.
"TOPH! TOPH!"
I flinched, water splashed all over my hands. Cold water. "What is it, Snoozles?" I felt Sokka scramble into the room where I was holding something. Knowing him it's probably a piece of paper. He had stayed the night before after Twinkletoes and Sweetness dropped him off.
"Look! I made a new sign for the Metalbending academy!" He stopped in front of me and struck his 'look at what I did pose'
"I don't like it." I said quickly, as I made a footstool to rest my feet on.
"What? What do you mean you don't like it you can't even—" Sokka's pose melted. I opened my eyes wide and gave him a sarcastic thumbs up. He always makes it so easy. "Why do you always feel the need to do that?" he replied.
"Why do you always feel the need to show me something on paper?" I replied. He took a seat on the couch next to my chair. I heard him roll the piece of paper back up then looked at me. "I can tell that you're staring at me. Why are you staring at me?"
"I dunno." he replied with a small smirk. I rose an eyebrow. You're just kinda nice to look at, I guess.."
"Well cut it out it's creepy." I folded my arms and turned away, feeling the blush creeping onto my face. I can't stand when he stares at me.
"Okay, Toph." Sokka sighed. "You know, I don't know if anyone's ever told you but you're really pretty, Toph."
"Yeah, you sister told me that before…." I said quietly, still hiding my face.
"Well she's right. I know you can't see it, and it probably doesn't mean much to you." Sokka moved closer and sat on the arm of my chair.
"What do you want? Whatever it is, sweet talking me isn't gonna help." I said, I bet my face was as red as an apple now. I hate when Sokka does this to me.
"I don't want anything, Toph." Snoozles replied softy and placed a hand on my shoulder. I'm glad I'm the only one with seismic sense because if he could feel how my heart was beating right now…. "I'm just glad I'm here with you."
"Okay, what's up with you? You were complaining about Sweetness and Twinkletoes' 'oogies' and now you giving them to me?" I snapped not as smugly as I wanted to though. I feel like he can see right through me.
"Maybe it's because I kinda like you." Sokka said. He took his hand from my shoulder and place it under my chin, turning my face to his. "And from the looks of it I think you like—"
I didn't think, I just reacted. I'm not used to feeling all girly like this and Sokka just brings the girly side out of me so easily. But sometimes it seems that I like it. I like being around Sokka, I always have. I'm just glad he chose to be here with me right now.
"I guess… I was wrong?" Sokka groaned as he hung from the pillar of earth that drove him into the ceiling. I let out a small smile as I stood and lowered him down to eye level and kissed his surprisingly soft lips.
"Not completely wrong."
