Title: Like We Never Loved At All

Disclaimer: I don't own Spooks, BBC and Kudos do. And I don't own the title either, it's from Faith Hill's and Tim McGraw's song "Like We Never Loved At All."

A/N: I think this is dumb, but I posted it anyway, please tell me what you think!

Harry watches her through the glass windows in his office. To his disappointment, she looks away as though she wanted to appear indifferent to his attention.
He knows she would do this, so he steps out of his office and into the grid, where it's all calmed down after the earlier chaos with Special Branch.

"You got the note to me." He says lightly as he stands by her desk. She's just smiling that tiny 'I know you know what I'm thinking' smile and taps on the keyboard absentmindedly.

"I thought that you knew how I did it already." She says, still playfully refusing to look up at him.

Silence hangs in the air for two seconds.

"They tell me you're in love with me."

Ruth's smile freezes and fades, her heartbeat increases and somehow she realizes that he's not talking about her white lie to the nurse at the hospital.

Finally, she glances bravely at him and says, "They tell me that you are in love with me."

Both hold the other's gaze, stormy blue locking confidently meeting with soft brown, and both wait for a confirmed answer from the other.

But instead of waiting any longer, Harry bends down to whisper into her ear, "Well then I suppose we'll just have to make it look like we never loved at all."

Anyone standing five feet away could have heard the desire in his voice. Anyone watching them interact for the first time could only assume that the two had been married and madly in love for years.

She nods, grinning provocatively, and repeats it quietly," Like we never loved at all."

A/N: So what do you think? Too cheesy? Please R and R, criticism will be taken, but not flames.
