I look up to the sky and see the snow
It falls like petals to the earth
And now black roses descend from the sky
They kiss the ground as I watch people run
I cry for my mother and run to our hut
Cold air hits my face as I run into see a man
And my mother on the floor – on her knees
He tells me to leave – he calls me "little girl"
I stay rooted to the floor until my mother's words push me out the door
I run, I run from our hut, looking for someone to keep me safe
A tear streaks down my cheek
