It wasn't something he normally did.
No, it definitely wasn't.
…Really.
Because Kaoru generally liked playing pranks, laughing, living, all that good stuff…
So why was he doing this?
…Oh right, curiosity. And they all say curiosity killed the cat…
But who could resist? The idea of being able to read what their Shadow King wrote all day in that stupid black notebook was simply too tempting.
He looked at the clock-- 3:30pm, 9-12-07.
Kaoru gleefully flicked through the pages, always careful to keep a watchful eye on the door-- Hikaru wasn't here, he was somewhere with Haruhi-- and the idea of the Vice President walking in on him wasn't a pleasant one.
He turned his eyes to the pages and pouted. It was just boring stuff! Numbers, calculations, profit, something about murder, Haruhi's debt…
…Murder?
Whoa, backtrack.
Kaoru felt his eyes go wider by the second as he read the small, folded up notice that was taped to one of the pages. It looked like some sort of transcript from an unknown source:

Kaoru felt his heartbeat quicken. No! What…what did he do? He was too young to die…….
…
He couldn't think.
He had to get out of here, fast.

The next day, Kyouya noticed the younger Hitachiin being positively dragged in by the elder.
Something about "he'll kill me" and "murder" and "hitmen"--
Kyouya felt a small smirk tug at the corners of his lips.
That would teach a fair lesson to the sneak.
…Admittedly though, it was a bit difficult to proceed when he was always taken so seriously.
------------
Just a thought on how Kyouya is always taken seriously.
