Hair Splitting Decision
"What's wrong?" Eugene asks after noticing that Rapunzel has a tendency to protrude her head forward. She stretches her neck as if trying to reach something in front of her.
"Nothing," replies Rapunzel. She becomes self conscious but then she still held her head and neck in the same jutted posture.
Eugene clicks his fingers. "I know! You are used to carrying that lump of hair that even now that it's gone you push your head forward as if you are still weighted down by it!"
Rapunzel vigorously nods her head. "What do you suggest I do to break the habit? Allow my hair to grow to that length again."
Eugene caresses his chin in thought. "That would take another eighteen years, much too long to correct the habit."
Rapunzel is dismayed, eyes shining she states, "I think I have to re-grow my hair. My head feels lightweight as if it's floating without it. And sometimes I even have accidents because I'm out of balance." Then adds on a positive note, "And just think we could sneak out of the castle and go on a date with it."
Eugene tries to imagine Rapunzel with brunette hair that long then he shakes his head. "It would probably look dry and dirty. No keep it at that length." Eugene points to Rapunzel's above her shoulder's length of hair.
"But!" Rapunzel voices out her objections. "I can wash and comb it everyday."
"Think of all the shampoos you would save if you don't have it ultra long," Eugene argues reasonably, using his charm to convince Rapunzel.
"I'm a princess now. I could afford it you know," Rapunzel huffs her disagreement. Eugene must learn that she isn't easily swayed by his sweet talk.
"Of course princess." Eugene makes a mock bow. "But to supply you with shampoo the whole kingdom might need to either increase its production of that product or to decrease the supply given to the commoners. Not to say that the water from the dam would always be at a critical level, and if there is going to be no rain for one season the whole country would suffer."
"Alright, you win. I will keep my hair short. But in the meantime, what do you suggest I do?" Rapunzel challenges her boyfriend.
Eugene suddenly claps his hands together. "I know! Wait here" Eugene leaves the room and when he returns he is carrying two very small dumbbells. "We are going to make this your hair accessories. We will decrease the weight gradually until you are used to a lighter one."
"Oh, they're purple!" Rapunzel cries excitedly. "You really are my prince charming!"
