They'd been in the woods, all three of them. His mother, Lily, was brushing out his father James' tail; it was getting rather tangled.

And then they heard muffled voices.

"Gale, you just can't say things like that. If the Capitol heard you, they'd cut out your tongue."

It was a human. James squealed, "Lily, take Squirrel and go! It's them! Go! I'll hold them off –"

By 'them' James meant Catnip Everdeen and her sidekick Gale. They were the only humans who ever set foot in the forest, and were feared by every animal in the woods behind District 12.

Lily grabbed Squirrel, who had been very young at the time, and together they scurried under a fallen branch.

The swoosh of an arrow as it whizzed through the air, and a sickening thump as it sank into James' furry stomach, killing him instantly

"Got it!" cheered the human with the lower voice. His name was Gale. Gale picked up James' cadaver and said, "I think I saw another one over here somewhere..."

"I'll take the next one, thank you very much. We're out of soap." Catnip replied, lifting her bow.

"Daddy," Squirrel whimpered, and then another arrow zipped past his skull, nicking him in the forehead, and skewering his mother.

Raucous cheering from Catnip and Gale.

Terrified, Squirrel scampered away. He would later be hailed as the Squirrel Who Lived; nobody else had ever survived the cruel, sharp arrows of Lord Catnip and her evil sidekick Gale.

It was prophesied that one day, Squirrel would defeat Catnip, but alas, that day never came.

After an undetermined amount of time, sudden, giant fires tore through the woods, roasting all of its inhabitants. Squirrel could only hope that Catnip and Gale had been consumed by flames too.

Squirrel's last thought as the forest was burning to the ground was, All is not well.

A/N: Yes, I know that the bombs didn't blow up the woods.

This was so random I don't even know where it came from.
