Chapter 1

Despite what was thought and said of the Dark King, none of it mattered to his wife. Jehu, if that was his name, had appeared one day as a whirlwind of darkness and malice, decimating a battlefield and uniting two kingdoms in fear.

His wife, Haou, was an orphan that had been exiled from the kingdom and isolated from everyone. She was by no means a saint, having abilities to call forth destruction, but she was reasonable and she was the only one able to calm Jehu.

When Jehu looked for a place to begin construction on is palace, he chose Haou's forest.

"Is this really necessary?" Haou's golden eyes looked at the crater created by Jehu. The blue haired male didn't respond-too focused on the construction- and stabbed his sword into the ground.

Haou watched as a whirlwind began, uprooting trees and expanding the level of destruction that Jehu created. It held her interest, the only thing she knew about Jehu's power from stories. She realized too late that she was losing her foothold. With a small gasp she was ripped into the air. Something gripped her wrist tightly and pulled her down quickly, holding her close.

The winds died down and in place of the crater was a palace. Judai stared at the dark crystals surrounding the outside and its dark armored outside.

"They'll call this a threat, Jehu." Haou said quietly. "A declaration of war."

"Let them. They can't do anything to me." Jehu released his hold on the brown haired woman.

Haou looked at the uprooted and charred trees. This place had been her haven; her sanctuary while she hid from the two kingdoms that hunted her. It was the place that she protected and cared for. She knew that Jehu hadn't meant to do anything that upset her, he didn't have the same attachment that she did, it just happened. It wasn't something that would be hard to undo. She'd just have to make sure that it wouldn't cause any problems.

Haou, as someone more attached to nature and freedom, never understood the concept of regal clothing. Jehu said it commanded power and guaranteed respect from those in lower positions. Haou still didn't understand.

"Hold still!"

"I can't it's too tight!" Haou pulled at the fabric and ripped the dress off. She gasped for air and looked at Jehu with her eyes glowing yellow. "I can't wear clothes like yours Jehu. You know that."

The blue haired man studied her. He was aware of the limits to her patience and with no outfits working, he'd have to compromise. Haou narrowed her eyes and opened her mouth-

"What would you prefer?" Jehu cut her off. Judai stopped and looked at him confused. "To wear."

Haou stared at him. Jehu was about to repeat himself when she spoke.

"Can you make this one looser?" Haou walked over and picked up a black dress with yellow lines. It was the one dress that both agreed on.

Jehu walked up to her and took the dress out of her hands. He pulled it apart, the fabric tearing with an audible rip.

"Jehu!"

He ignored Haou's indignant shout and waved his hand. The torn dress repaired itself and landed in her hands. She stared at it disbelief clear on her face.

"I made some minor modifications." He answered her unsaid question.

"Hm." The brunette looked down at the dress then held it up in front of her body. "How does it look?"

Jehu shrugged. "Everything looks amazing on you, my love."

His answer was met with an eyeroll. "Annoying and sappy."

"It can't be that annoying if you're blushing."

"Don't you have soldiers to evaluate, Jehu?"

"They can wait."

"Not for long." Haou replied and walked behind a curtain to change.

"You're not allowing for any compromise." Jehu opened the door slowly.

"No." There was no movement from the other side of the curtain. Both of them waited to see what the other would do in a tense silence. How long it lasted is a mystery, but eventually Jehu relented and left the room.

The suffocating silence stayed with the blue haired man as he walked down the hallway. His darkened eyes glowed as he thought about her.

He loved Haou. He loved her so much it hurt. He wasn't made for loving a forest dweller. But she...

He shook his head. What am I thinking? He stopped in front of the training ground. Do your duty, King of Darkness.

"Soldiers prepare to fight!"

And this is the start of the re-write. Tell me what you think of it!
