Thanks to my wonderful beta, Anathema. Who else would put up with my comma mistakes at 2 am?

Disclaimer: They aren't mine. Oh but I wish….

Feedback: You know you want to. All the cool kids are doing it.

Lana walked into her room, calm as ever. She was always calm. People appreciated that about her. It was no time to change that.

From the corner of her eye, Lana noticed the picture of her with her ex-, as of twenty minutes ago, boyfriend. Whitney had been wearing his ever- present letterman jacket. Ridiculous when you think about it. He wore it in the summer too. Who needs a leather-jacket in the summer, in Kansas?

She serenely picked up the picture and placed it in a drawer. Her arm caught one of the delicate figurines on the top of the drawer. She watched it fall, seemingly in slow motion. The kitty was spinning slightly, its smile ever present on white porcelain. But it hit the ground. And the poor thing shattered.

'Hmm. Never liked that thing anyway,' Lana thought to herself, and placidly picked up the kitty's twin that had graced her bureau for years. She flipped it over in her hands, running her nail against the painted texture of the fur.

When the crash sounded out, followed by the sounds of tinkling porcelain against the floor, she looked at her empty hand in shock

'Huh. Time to move away from the breakables.'

She moved away from the bureau, eyes set on the door when she realized there was one more thing she should do before she left. She went over and kneeled at the floor, wastebasket in hand, and opened her drawer of ribbons and tiaras. It took four handfuls, but finally it was all in the trash.

"Lana! Is everything okay in there?" Nell's voice rang out from outside the room.

"Everything's fine," Lana called back. She was calm. Composed. Just what everyone expected.
