Freedom
I can see it,
It is so close,
As I sit on my fence and mope,
If only I could join them,
If only I could be free,
If only I could have glee.
If only.
If is the word,
My barrier,
My enemy.
I remember my friends,
So joyful and good.
Through my gloom.
And I still wonder,
Why don't I?
Run free,
Hunt free,
Have more friends.
My friends are here,
I've told myself again and again.
But my friends won't understand the pain within.
My heart aches with the longing,
To go where I am belonging,
Not where I am a burden,
But where I am a hero.
I shall go.
It is decided,
Even though my friends dread,
The wonders and horrors of my new life.
I take a look around,
This is my home.
Where I've looked for so long and far.
