Just to be sure, House is the best show ever made! I was crushed when I heard it ended... but the stories will go on! Anyways, rated t for mild cursing. Onto the story...
House walked in the room, holding a file. "Arrissa Morris. 28. Passed out while giving a lecture on the treatment of nurturing baby squirrels..."
"Whoa, whoa wait." Cameron said, turning around to face House. "Did you just say baby squirrels?"
"No, I said baby mutated walruses from the eastern seaboard," He replied back, sarcasm clear in his voice. "Yes I said baby squirrels. Apparenly she's one of those eco-friendly freaks. The ones who spend their time with nature instead of changing the nature channel and watching General Hospital."
Chase and Foreman walked in during this, as confused as Cameron.
"Well, what are the symptoms?" Chase asked.
"Well, ol' chap," House imitated "we got high blood pressure, fever of 104, shortness of breath, constipation, and the brain seems to be differential, be a type of person, then change to a completely different one."
Cameron looked up from the file. "Bipolar?"
Foreman made a differential. "Would explain the brain thing, but not the symptoms."
"Well maybe she's bipolar and has something wrong with her."
"Doubt it..."
Cameron looked away, then glanced to Chase, followed by House.
House in return walked to the table, and stared at the 3 of them. "Oh, did the dark one scare the little girl? I forgot that this was a hospital, where you guys are paid to save lives, not sit on your asses and argue. Chase, put her on antibiotics for the fever for now till we find out what's wrong with her. Foreman, get a lung biopsy first. Cameron... just stand in the room and look pretty for now. Now go away.."
The 3 of them walked out of the room silently, off to do their work. Foreman and Chase caught up with Cameron on the way out. "How do you deal with all the shit House gives you?" Chase said. "He's constantly offending you because you're a woman. And you still work here because...?"
"I need the money," Cameron said, turning to face him. "I like having a job that I like. I also like being in my apartment, getting food and warmth, things money can buy. Can say the same to you too. He offends you with your accent. And you're still here because...?"
"Nice one there. But I'm not the one in love with my boss." Chase replied.
"Ooh, nice one there Aussie," Foreman said, slapping his back.
Cameron looked away at the comment. "I don't like him anymore... he never liked me anyways, so I gave up."
"Oh."
"Yea." Awkward pause "So shouldn't you be getting those antibiotics?" Cameron said, wanting to change the subject.
"Shouldn't you be in the room looking pretty?" Chase replied, smiling at her.
"Touche. See you there." Cameron said back, returning the smile, leaving him to get the medicine. Foreman still lingered.
"So," He said "How do you really deal with House?"
"It's been 3 years. And i'll deny this if anyone asks, but I grew up with older kids, some worse than House."
Foreman looked at her in confusion. "I thought you were an only-"
"I am." Cameron replied quickly. "My mom was a caregiver for teens. I had to go to work with her when I was young. I learned to not take anyone's crap from those experiences. If the 4 year-old me could handle herself with a bunch of cursing, ill teens, I can definately handle myself with House."
"Hmm, interesting." Foreman said. "I should go get the needle for the biospy. I'll see you in the room. Oh, and don't forget to look pretty." He said, chuckling across the hallway, leaving her to go to the patient's room to do what she was ordered to: just stand there and look pretty.
