A/N: Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! Or Singles Awareness Day. Or just happy A Sunday Like Every Other. Okay, this is probably really bad and they seem kind of OOC to me, but hopefully this is a good fic. I really wanted to upload something for Valentine's Day, so I threw this together.

Castiel Novak sat on his bed and stared at the card that had been in his locker.

It felt like something someone would do as a joke. He had heard about that happening, though he had – so far – not experienced it.

He never really celebrated Valentine's Day, it seemed like an over commercialised excuse to get people to buy things. Also, no one seemed in interested in him, and he wasn't interested in anyone.

The new student, Dean Winchester, though, he had caught Cas's attention.

He sat in the desk next to him in a couple of classes. He had tried not to stare, but it was hard. What could he say, the boy was attractive.

The card said to meet just outside the school at 6 PM – in fifteen minutes. He had to make his mind up, as to whether he'd do it.

Five minutes later, he had told his brothers and father he was going out, and was walking to the school. The wind bit at his exposed cheeks, and he pulled his scarf up.

He could see it, but he stopped walking at seeing who was waiting there.

It was Dean Winchester himself, standing awkwardly by the gate, staring down at a card, that even from a distance, Cas could identify as the matching one to his.

He had two options. He could turn around and walk home, or he could go and see what had caused Dean to be there.

What if it was a joke?

The first plan went out of the window; Dean had looked up and noticed Cas standing there.

He bit his lip, aware of his cheeks growing very warm.

The look on Dean's face was questioning, but he sprinted over.

"Hey – you're Castiel Novak, aren't you?" He asked, frowning, "from Religious Studies?"

"Umm," Cas began intelligently. He had noticed the freckles on Dean's face. He cleared his throat and tried again, "yes. Hello. Why are you here, if I may ask?"

There was a small chance that he had gotten detention and was waiting for someone to pick him up. Maybe he had just fancied a stroll.

"I got a card. It said to come here." Dean said, raising an eyebrow.

Damn.

Cas fished in his pocket and took his card out. It was a bee.

Dean grinned and bit his lip to stop himself from laughing. How could a single person be so mesmerising? He coughed, and showed his. It was a hive.

"Nice choice of cards." Dean said, grinning again.

"What?" Castiel raised an eyebrow, "I thought you were the one who put this in my locker?"

There was a moment of silence and then Dean said very loudly and suddenly, causing Cas to jump, "Dammit Sam!"

"Who?"

"My brother. Um," Dean rubbed the back of his neck, his cheeks turning a little pink, "I may have mentioned you to him. He must've got it in his head I had a thing for you. Which I don't. Of course."

Cas tried not to be hurt, but it was only to be expected. He cleared his throat again, and they stood for a couple of moments in silence.

"Well, I take it you have no one for a Valentine?" Dean asked awkwardly.

"No. I find it an over commercialised day made for making money."

"Ah. So if I were to ask if you wanted to go for a milkshake, you'd say no?"

His breath caught, and he frowned, trying to discern if Dean was being sarcastic.

"I assume you're being serious, and if so, I would say yes." Cas replied hesitantly, his heart hammering.

A smile spread over Dean's face, "awesome."

As they began to walk, Dean coughed and said, "but look, uh, don't say anything to Sam. I don't want him being smug about it."

Cas laughed, but promised not to.

As they walked, he came to the conclusion that maybe Valentine's Day wasn't so bad after all.
