BURN by Draco's Lady
This is a crossover between HP and Steven King's Firestarter. Lots of bad language, horrific violence, character death and some romance.
Disclaimer: Steven King owns the characters and basic plot of Firestarter. JK Rowling owns the HP characters. I am also using a filksong/poem by Julia Ecklar that I got at a convention a long time ago . The plot (except the aforementioned bit) is all Mine! Comments welcome, flames ignored.
other notes:
Lupin is back as DADA teacher.
The Lady and the Dragon-Chapter 1
Mid-September, 7th year.
Harry couldn't sleep. He had a uneasy feeling, like something was about to happen. He got out of bed and walked to the common room and stared out the window. Lightning was beginning to streak across the sky , and the thunder boomed. He could across to the north tower and was startled to see the lightning reveal a figure in the window . Another bolt and he could make out that it was Draco Malfoy. Draco, however, was not looking toward Harry, he was looking up. Harry had to change positions to look in the same direction. He gaped at what he saw. A dragon was flying toward the east tower and as it got closer he could see it held a rider. As it reached the tower, someone threw open the window and dragon and rider flew right in!
Harry ran back to his dorm room and grabbed his invisibility cloak and headed for the east tower. In his haste, he didn't hear the footsteps hurrying in the same direction.
"Ooof!" Harry gasped as he and Draco ran smack dab into each other and both went down.
"Whaa..an invisibility cloak! That explains a lot." Draco commented as they both righted themselves. "Well, let's both put in on and go see what's up."
"What do you mean?" Harry asked casually.
"You know what I mean. I saw you looking, too. The lady and the dragon!"
"Yeah. right. OK. Let's go!"
Invisibly, the two made their way to the hallway leading to the tower, and found it blocked. Heavy doors (magical doors, as none had been there before) proved to be non-negotiable to any of the spells or charms either boy knew.
"We'll just have to wait. They can't keep something like that hidden long." Harry noted.
"I suppose."
"Um, did you happen to see who opened the window for them?"
"Yes. It was Dumbledore and Lupin."
"See you tomorrow, Mal-- Draco"
"G'night, Harry."
Both young men traveled back to their dorms, but neither got any sleep.
Fortunately, the young wizards would not have to wait long for at least one of the answers.
TBC
