A/N: Written for s i l v e r a u r o r a's Next Gen house challenge. I chose Teddy. I'm a bit insecure about this even if I do like writing Teddy.

Teddy's a Hufflepuff: hardworking and loyal and just. He likes his housemates and he likes having a badger as a mascot (especially when the first years confuse the badger for some sort of miniature bear; Teddy always laughs at this mistake). He admits yellow and black are respectable colors; they've become a staple of his wardrobe.

The thing he hates about being a Hufflepuff is when people talk about his mother like a saint and start comparing Teddy to the late Nymphadora Tonks. He starts squirming when people tell him he's just like his mother for being a Hufflepuff, he's got his mother's sense of humor. The aches and pains start weighing on his shoulders when enough people say they knew her and they missed her.

Teddy almost resents his mother's legacy but he just can't bring himself to admit that out loud in fear he'll genuinely believe the resentment.
