Author's note: My first Remus/Lily story.
Written for: Hogwarts Online II Drabble game. I was inspired by the prompt 'first day of winter' and the paring Remus/Lily.
He came back from the Forbidden Forrest wearing torn clothes and a sweaty hairline. He had just transformed from werewolf to man and could still taste the blood on his lips from the deer he had just killed. He hated the color red. For red reminded Remus of the color blood he saw far too often. As he ran around the castle, and knocked down a startled Lily.
"Let me help you up," He said quickly. She jerked back and politely shook her head no.
"It's okay. I can get it." She stood up by herself and brushed off the leaves from her long olive green pea coat. She chose to wear coats over a robe for her afternoon walks around the school. It was due to snow at any moment for the First Day of Winter.
He stared at her. She snapped her fingers in front of his face causing him to blink and stop staring.
"Remus? Are you alright?"
"You have a leaf in your hair," he said as he pulled out the leaf that was tangled in her soft locks.
"Thank you," she said as she brushed the red hair neatly behind her ears.
She shivered as he glanced up at the night sky. Snow was falling on top of them. He realized he didn't have a coat on, and shivered too.
"Let's go back to the castle," she suggested watching him shiver.
He could get use to the color red he thought as he watched the pure white snow fall in her red hair. As long as it made him think of Lily and not blood. He would be okay with the color. Together they walked up to the castle.
