"Don't you walk away from me again, Remus!" Tonks shouted as she grabbed his arm. He was about to storm away from another one of their infamous 'I'm too dangerous' arguments. "I'm sick and tired of you just running away from me. When will you realize that I'm not going anywhere?"
"I'm not good for you, so you can stop wasting your time, Nymphadora," he said trying to keep his voice level.
"I'm never wasting time when I'm with you. I want to be with you, Remus," she pleaded.
"I may be what you want, but I can't give you what need. You need stability, someone you can count on whenever possible. Not someone who is a monster once a month and bitter during that week. I'm not good for you," Remus repeated dejectedly while looking down at his feet.
She took her hand from his arm and placed it under his chin. "I refuse to accept that. Remus, whenever have I ever liked stability? I changed my hair five times a day and act like an impulsive child most of the time," she said softly.
"So how do I know you won't change your mind about me?" he said worriedly. And then Tonks realized the true problem behind their relationship. Remus was scared that when things got tough, she would leave him. Remus had lost so much, and though it was nothing new to him, it stung every time.
"Remus, I know it won't be milk and honey with you, but I will never change my mind about this. I love you. Please, just give us a chance," she said.
There was silence. He shut his eyes tight and then his face relaxed and he said, "I'll give it a chance for you."
She pulled him close and wrapped her arms around his neck, "You'll give it a chance for us."
