Another Drabble. This time starring my personal favorite: Demyx. C:

Warnings: Angst, may or may not make you want to huggle the Melodious Nocturne.

Disclaimer: Kingdom Hearts and all it's characters will never belong to me.

The water looked unusually deep and inviting today. Cold, wet, and oh-so-real.

Demyx could feel the shivers; feel the tingle in his bones as he slipped into the crystal clear pool.

A shiver ran up his spine and he shuddered, looping his arms tightly around his body in an effort to contain body heat. He would not get out of the water though. He enjoyed this feeling too much. The feeling of feeling. He had tried explaining it to Saix once; that he could indeed feel. He also still experienced emotions, even though it was deemed impossible for Nobodies. Demyx wondered vaguely if the other could also feel. Maybe they were just hiding it? After all, Xemnas had told them they had no hearts. No heart: No emotion. And what Xemnas said was law. He decided to consult Saix about it. The bluennette was his closest friend in Organization XIII after all. But the Diviner had shook his head impassively as Demyx began expressing his beliefs.

"We are incapable of feelings and emotion Demyx. You know that as well as anyone else. We have no hearts."

And as Demyx stuttered, trying to reason with the man, Saix had just mussed up his Mohawk/Mullet and disappeared through a portal. Most likely in search of Xemnas.

It was sad really. And lonely. Demyx hadn't even bothered to speak with anyone else on the subject. The only other person who would probably even listen was Axel. And he was too busy entertaining number XIII.

Demyx slid further into the water. Toes slipping from the silt on the bottom of the pool. He swam out to the middle of the lake and cautiously rolled onto his back. The mid-day sun shone down on his face. He squinted and wished he'd brought a pair of sunglasses or something with him. The blonde quashed the thought though and rolled onto his belly, opened his eyes and gazed downwards.

There wasn't much to see. There never was. Demyx angled his body downward and allowed his body to sink. With a few paddles his belly scraped the bottom and he allowed himself to settle, resting his head on his arms. A little fish fluttered past his nose, causing him to go cross-eyed, and he followed the tiny creature with his jade-green eyes. It swam off without a care in the world. Demyx was jealous. Another emotion he had discovered he still harbored.

Although the pressure in his lungs was causing his entire being to ache, he ignored it. Perhaps he could just lay here and drown? He loved the water after all. It would be a most befitting death for the Melodious Nocturne. But his lungs had other plans. He found purchase on the grimy lake bottom and kicked off towards the surface, sucking in a deep gulp of fresh air. His hair plastered to his face, but he ignored it and swam towards shore.

As he climbed out, the water dripped from his skin. Demyx missed the slippery wet feeling immediately as his body dried. But... He knew that this time tomorrow, he would once again find himself on the bottom off the lake. Pondering over whether or not he should just lay there and die a watery death.

He made his way back to the castle.
