Love Will Remember
Summary: Diaspro reminisces about the times that she and Sky had together. Inspired by "Love Will Remember" by Selena Gomez. Just a short, quick one-shot that I decided to write while listening to Selena's new album. Constructive criticism is highly welcomed and appreciated.
"You said you loved me, I said I loved you back. What happened to that?"
Diaspro sat in the garden of her palace, looking at the wilting roses. Mother Nature had not been kind to them as winter rolled in. She thought back to the times that her and Sky had sat out there during the summer, looking at the blood-red roses.
"Diaspro, you put the roses to shame with your beauty. But there is so much more to you than your looks. I see your inner beauty, where others may only see your exterior. I have never met anyone with such passion and intelligence. I love you," Sky had told her. She remembered the feel of her cheeks warming up, surely becoming as red as the roses. He brushed her warm cheeks, softly, with his hands as he leaned in and kissed her. Diaspro broke the kiss with a smile.
"I love you too, Sky" She returned, making eye contact with him. He leaned in and kissed her again.
"All your promises and all them plans we had, what happened to that?"
Diaspro's heart still broke when she thought of the future that her and Sky had planned out.
"We will be the greatest rulers that Eraklyon has ever seen and you will be the most beautiful queen," Sky had mused, with Diaspro hanging on to his every word.
"We used to be inseparable; I used to think that I was irreplaceable. We lit the whole world up, before we blew it up. I just don't know how we screwed it up"
The princess' perfect world had come crashing down on Exhibition Day. She had never dreamed that her precious Sky would do such a thing. She was broken inside when she discovered that Sky was seeing someone else. She stayed strong, though. A princess never breaks down in public; she keeps her composure. Once she returned home, she was emotionally exhausted. Diaspro refused to cry but she was broken inside and she never thought that she would recover.
"Love will remember you; Love will remember me. I know it inside my heart. Forever will forever be ours, even if we try to forget."
It had been months since Diaspro had discovered Sky's secret, when she finally had the courage to visit the garden again. It was impractical to even go to the garden during the middle of winter, but she needed this. She sat down on the bench where they had sat not long ago. She took a longing glance at the rose bush that was in front of her and saw that the roses were wilting. Their blood red color had faded to a dull purple color. Diaspro felt a lump grow in her throat and her eyes began to water. This time, she wasn't going to fight the tears; she let them flow. She knew that even if Sky no longer loved her, she would always love him. She would always have the memories of their time together.
