A peaceful silence, interrupted only by the call of birds as they fly overhead, fills the field around the ruins of the Tower of Salvation; the hot late-afternoon sun baking anything not in the refuge of the shade.
A puff of air escapes from a young man of about eighteen years of age, as he stands upright from where he had been digging through the rubble for anything salvageable. One tanned hand reaches up to gently brush his unruly short brown hair from his face, successfully wiping the sweat from his forehead away from his eyes as he does.
Turning away from the dust he had stirred up from digging in the rubble, the teen takes a deep breath of fresh air. He opens the satchel at his side to place the piece of Magi technology he had found in with the rest of his discoveries before looking up at the sun to see what time it was.
"I should head back to camp soon," the young adult says to himself before stepping forward to explore a bit more.
"'Oyd?"
The teen freezes as the young voice, sounding as though it belonged to a toddler, fills the silence causing him to look around in confusion before walking towards where he thought he had heard the voice coming from.
The clatter of rocks falling fills the air as the brown haired male climbs the nearest pile of rubble to get a better look around.
"'Oyd?"
He blinks as the plaintively calling voice sounds again from nearby. Jumping from the pile, his red-brown eyes scan the area for the source of the noise.
"'Oyd?"
Startled as the voice comes from right next to him, the teen, Lloyd by name, looks down and to his left, blinking at the child of about two he finds sitting in the middle of a group of fallen stones.
"What are you doing here…?" he questions, reaching down to pick the toddler up when little hands reached up to him. "Your parents around?" the teen continues as he looks over the young boy in his arms, eyes going wide as he takes in the small points to the tiny ears, the…
"Mi…" the teen starts to speak before he's interrupted by a happy squeal of "'Oyd!" from the toddler as the blond haired boy wraps his arms happily around the brunet's neck.
"RAINE!" Lloyd yells after a moment of shocked silence, the teen turning and running as fast as he could out of the ruins, the startled toddler still held in his arms.
