"Ryu-za-ki-kun."
She sings his name under her breath as she wraps her arms around his waist. It's how she always says it, just like that, emphasis on the last syllable and a grin on her face that might well be described as "impish."
L jumps slightly, tensing up. "Miss Amane. You startled me." He gives her a half-reproachful look over his shoulder.
"Well, you could've noticed my reflection in the window..." Oh, she's pouting again. He hates it when she pouts. (And yet at the same time he has an irrepressable urge to pat her on the head and feed her a cookie...) "You weren't paying attention." she finishes accusingly. "What kind of detective are you?"
"One bothered with much more important things than being hugged," L replies, and instantly regrets it as he sees Misa's face fall. "No offense, of course." He shifts uncomfortably; he doesn't like human contact, or more accurately just isn't used to it, and now he can feel the warmth of her arms through the fabric of his shirt.
"None taken," she says with a smile, and then, lowering her voice even further - "but you're going to have to pay me back for that-"
And he doesn't even object when she pulls him down onto the couch on top of her, where they stay for at least the next half-hour.
