Chapter 1

It was a beautiful spring morning in Konoha and the leaves on the trees were rustling from the nice breeze. If you happened to look under a particular tree you'll find one of the laziest and smartest ninjas in Konoha, Shikamaru! It was a little after five o'clock in the morning so it was peaceful and quiet enough for him to think. Right now he was just catching up on life.

Let's see I already did some training with my father for the week, and I'm able to meet up with my team later today since I don't have to escort Temari around Konoha-wait! Now I know what I forgot. I'm supposed to check through her hotel room to see if she forgot something and I didn't do it even though she left 5 days ago. Damn! By now she would have reached Suna. Most likely she didn't leave anything but I have to check just to make sure.

With that Shikamaru jumped up from where he was laying down and headed for the hotel room.

When he got there everyone was still asleep, including the owner of the hotel.

Damn it! Everyone's asleep. I should think of my options. Maybe I could wait until the owner wakes up, nah that would take too long. I could just sneak into the room and-no, that wouldn't work either they would just think I'm trespassing if they wake up and see me. I know what I'll do.

Shikamaru thought.

He walked around the hotel until he saw Temari's room. He then climbed the nearest tree and looked inside.

It looks like I climbed this troublesome tree for nothing since there is nothing insid- wait a minute! Isn't that the giant fan she carries around on her back? Dammit. I have to get that back for her so that she doesn't kill me the next time she comes. Yet I don't see how she can forget her only weapon.

So Shikamaru jumped inside the hotel room and retrieved the fan.
