A/N: Hello one and all. This is my first fanfiction so I hope you will grow to like it, and I hope I will finish it!

Basically, Fuji is the captain of the girls' team, with a few other converted characters they will be a part of the girls' tennis team. I've only nicked two from Seigaku boy's team. Guess who? They'll still interact with the boys' team, and there's going to be a ton of made up characters (OC). You've been warned.

Unless stated, Fuji always has her eyes closed. Because I'm English, there are very few Japanese words because I will make a mess of it, and grade 7/8/9 are now year 7/8/9 or first/second/third years.

Also, I don't reply to reviews because I feel the need to explain the plot, and that would be stupid on my part but I do thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts, good or bad, but mainly good, and thanks to those who provide me with bits of info.

Oh, and if you do decide to read all the chapters I have up, thank you for tolerating the gender-bending aspects of it and the many OC and for those who couldn't get past chapter 1-3, at least you tried!

AND… oh, never mind, just read and find out! But I will say, if you are looking for immediate FujixTezuka action, you won't get it in this story. It's a very long story which will look at all the characters and their subplots. All of which help the main plot to develop... and to waste time! (^_^)

Chapter One

It had been a long while since the two had some time to themselves. Despite the summer vacation coming to an end, Fuji and Tezuka could not find time to sit down and talk. She had her holiday in the Shikoku region with her older brother and younger sister. It did not go as well as Fuji would have liked. Sharing a room with Yumi became troublesome, even unpleasant at times. When she got back to Tokyo, the first thing Fuji wanted was to see the stoic but loveable face of Tezuka. Somehow he eased any pains away and allowed her body to be in harmony with his.

She often wondered why only Tezuka could have such an alluring effect on her. She had many guy-friends. Takashi Kawamura was a sweet boy and a good friend, but he was more a little brother and not anything more. Even the over towering Sadaharu Inui caught her eye several times. The fact they both liked doing a certain something to people could be over indulging and boring, she decided. Nope, Tezuka was more then enough for her and she felt her smile and happy eyes glow whenever around him.

"Thank you for coming out today, Tezuka-kun."

He nodded. His head of loose, stringy hair waved with the motion of his head. Such a simple action but Fuji was taken in by his composure.

"How did you spend the summer, Tezuka-kun?"

"Nothing special. Spent the first two weeks at home helping my mother and grandfather. When my dad came home he offered to take me mountain climbing, only halfway though. I wasn't really up for it."

"That doesn't sound like you at all, Tezuka-kun."

When she dipped her head to look at her dessert she saw Tezuka slightly shifted his head to look across the table and towards the floor. She did not question why he did that. She took a spoonful of her apple pie and chewed on it quietly. She slipped her arm on the table and thought back to when Tezuka and her crossed paths. It was a moment she could not forget. After moving from Chiba and into Tokyo, her brother signed her up for Seishun Academy. She soon signed up for the tennis team. After a few weeks on the court picking up balls, her captain allowed the first years to play a match every so often. On one occasion, a misguided ball flew towards her. The other girls ducked but she ran under the ball and whacked it back into the basket. She did not only amaze her peers and regulars but also a young Tezuka who happened to be running around the courts and saw it.

After practise that day, Fuji gathered her things to leave when Tezuka called out her name. She remembered turning around to see a sweet adolescent face whose oval glasses were too big, and over hanging hair invading his forehead. She asked how he knew her name and he blushed and turned his head away. She giggled at this and asked what he wanted. He explained he had seen her hit the ball in the basket with her back to it. It impressed him. Hearing that surprised her. He introduced himself and asked if he could play a match with her someday. She could not believe her luck. She figured he did not know he was the talk of the girl's tennis court and for him to want to play a match with her could have brought tears to her eyes.

"I hear you have the son of a former student on your team this year." She said, toying with her spoon between her fingers.

"Who told you that?"

Fuji winked and took another bite of her pie. "I hear things."

"We'll have to find out after Thursday." Tezuka added.

"You have your friendly tournament on Wednesday?"

"Yes. The year eights' will be in charge until we get back."

"I could always watch them for you."

Tezuka shook his head "That's not necessary."

Any other topic of conversation and Tezuka would have one to two word to say, but when it came to tennis, one of his passions, he could talk long enough to make the day productive and rewarding. Rewarding because you got to hear his mature voice. It was sexy to any girl's ear. Even if he said 'I hate you', just hearing his resounding and rich voice would somehow make it sound like 'I'll love you forever'. Then again, Tezuka was not the type to hate anyone, unlike herself. With their interest of sport being tennis their company grew to be meaningful. It brought Tezuka out of that odd shyness he had.

He picked up one of his savoury snacks and twiddled it between his fingers.

"Something wrong, Tezuka-kun?"

He shook his head and popped the snack into his mouth.

"Just thinking about this being our last year."

"Are you thinking about the promise you made with Oishi-kun?"

He turned up to her quickly, which made Fuji realise she may have said too much. She expected him to say something. He did not say anything at first. Fuji placed her spoon down and pushed her pie aside to wait and listen.

"Yeah, I am. We were knocked out early this year with the year nines that have gone. It was disappointing. I'm just hoping this year, with me as captain, we can get to the Nationals."

She smiled at him. He really loved this game. Loved it enough to want to be the captain to get the school back in the Nationals. The only other person to get the boys team that far was the one Ryuzaki sensei talked about every other play. But now Tezuka felt it was his time, his time to shine. When, not if, but when he made it to the Nationals with his own team, only then would he feel complete.

"The girls team made it to the Nationals." He said with no resentment.

"We came 4th. Don't worry Tezuka-kun. I'm sure everything you and I want will come to us this year."

He glance down to feel Fuji's hand cupped around his. He blushed quickly and glanced away. Fuji watched him slowly turn to her again. She waited to see the calm gloss in his eyes when he saw her eyes. She showed him just a small gap to her warm, blue eyes.

"Let's hope so, Fuji-san."

...to be continued...

A/N2: Yay, that's it for chapter one. I will up date soon. Peace.

Edit: Hmm, I knew I would make a mistake. Apparently for Tezuka-kun to call Fuji 'chan' is too friendly on his part, and I don't what him at this stage, so I've changed the chan's to kun's. FAB! And then I changed the –kun's to –san's because Fuji is no longer a boy! AWESOMENESS!
