Piper loves baths.

She enjoys the trivial act of turning on the tap and testing the temperature, anticipating the moment she sinks into the tub foot first as she mixes lotion with water (the anticipation does not take too long though; she's afraid the temperature will turn). She loves being in the tub and seeing her skin wrinkle like prunes as the bath water turns from scalding hot to lukewarm. She takes comfort in the heat of the water that turns her skin from beige to red (her mother has been nagging at her about it since young, Polly just tells her not to come whining when she finally gets scalded). Her aching bones get rejuvenated by the steam, her mind refreshed by the heat, her body cleansed by the lotion.

Bath time also means Piper time, with nobody to disturb her if she locks the door. It's her safe place after all, when she can finally be free from the shackles placed upon her spirit by the roles she has to play. Piper the immaculate Smith graduate, the perfect baby of the family, the dignified upper middle class citizen, can be replaced by just Piper, whoever she wants to be at the moment (which is always changing, like a flavor of the day).

Really, what's not to like about bath time?

Showers, on the other hand, she'd rather do without. They are usually quick, hurried affairs when she's rushing out for an appointment or errand. They require her to stand, and lazy as she is, she does not like standing. Water pelts down like splashing bullets upon her head; the pitter-patter of the pelts disrupts her ability to think, which she likes to do when she is showering or bathing (tiger tiger burning bright, in the forests of the –pitter-patter ). Worst of all, she can't read in the shower, not without ruining her books.

So really, what's there to like about showers?

When Alex Fuckingsexy Vause saunters in though, clad only in a robe, her black-rimmed glasses starting to fog up from the steam of Piper's still hot bath water, Piper stops thinking. Alex glances at the woman still in the bathtub, and pads towards the shower. With her lips lifted at the right corner and eyebrows arched, she gazes towards Piper.

"Care to join me for a shower?"

And then of Piper's gripes about showers fly out of her mind, and she exits the bath. She walks up to Alex, now naked, and takes her glasses off her now smirking face.

"I thought you disliked showers."

"Baths are overrated. Besides, the tub's too small."
