It's been aaaaaages since I've written any kind of fic, but the end of this episode was so good that I had to write something. It's not much of an idea, and it's not beta-ed, so any suckage (and there will likely be a lot, because I'm rusty) is all mine.
Disclaimer: I don't own them. :(
Later that night, at Gibbs' for Thanksgiving dinner, Ziva cornered Tony on his way out of the kitchen and gently pushed him back inside.
Tony, caught unawares by the push, stumbled backwards a couple steps. "Whoa, Ziva. Getting a bit rough with me there, don't you think?"
She blushed and refused to meet his eyes. "I just wanted to say..." She trailed off.
"Say what?"
"Thank you...for bringing the opera to me, even if I could not go to it."
He shrugged. "It's what partners do, right?" He pulled her into a hug.
She eagerly accepted his embrace, hugging him just as tightly. "You are the best friend I have ever had."
Tony groaned inwardly. Friends. That's all she sees us as. He replied unenthusiastically. "Yeah, that's me. Your friend."
She pulled back and studied his face. "Is there something wrong, Tony?"
He took a deep breath. "Do you think there could ever be...more...between us?"
Yes, I'm going to leave it there (for now?). I want to build suspense for the next part if you do like it, and I don't want to waste more of your time if you don't. Please let me know, one way or another.
