Author's note - characters aren't mine but Regina/Granny is my new BROTP. What can I say.

Granny woke with a start. She groaned and rolled over, blinking to get the clock's numbers in focus.

2:39 am.

She reached blindly for the phone, ringing next to the clock.

"Mmm'lo?"

Sounds of a shrieking baby sounded through the phone, before a woman spoke, clearly crying as well.

"Granny? I…I…he keeps crying…and I don't know what…what to do.."

"R'g'na?"

"Yes. Granny…I really need help. I…I'm…I'm failing." Regina broke into sobs as hard as little Henry's.

"Regina, I'll be there in ten minutes."

Granny pulled herself out of bed and grabbed her robe from the back of the door. Wrapping it about herself, she grabbed her keys and glasses before walking out to her car.

Regina was pacing the foyer when Granny knocked. Frantically, she yanked the door open, eyes filling with fresh tears at the sight. Granny just smiled and held her arms out for Henry as she walked in the door.

Handing him over, Regina gasped out a thank you. "Thank you so much. He's…he's been crying for an hour and I just…I just don't know what to do anymore. I changed his diaper, I fed him, I sang, I walked with him, and I…I just – "

"Shh, Regina. It's okay. I'm here now. Rocking chair?"

Regina gestured up the stairs and they walked together to Henry's nursery. Henry was still sobbing and Granny immediately sat in the chair, covering herself with a blanket, making sure to tuck Henry in as well. Standing in the doorway and wiping her tears away, Regina watched as Granny rocked, humming a lullaby from Fairytale Land to Henry. She shook her head. It had to be popular here, too – no way Granny would know it otherwise, right? She shook her head again.

Granny rubbed Henry's back and hummed until the cries finally settled into whimpers, and eventually, snuffles. As Henry lay sleeping, Granny stood and set him in his crib, running her hand along his cheek, smoothing the hair back and the tears away.

Regina gently stepped over to the crib, reaching her hand down to rest on his back. "I..thank you. I know it's the middle of the night, but I'm afraid I just no longer knew what to do. I feel utterly ridiculous for breaking down and having to wake you. I hope you can accept my apologies."

"Regina, I told you to call me. You're doing this alone." Granny turned to look at Regina, placing a hand on her shoulder. "I know how hard that can be, and don't you hesitate to call me again, okay?" With that, she pulled Regina into her, wrapping her in a hug. She felt Regina start to shake as sobs set in. "Oh, honey."

Regina stood there in Granny's arms until she'd cried herself to exhaustion. She stepped back and chuckled, wiping her face clean again. "Thank you. As I stated, I just don't know what I'm doing and…I just…needed another set of hands I guess."

"Thank you for calling me. You needed help and you got it." She shrugged. "If it happens again, you know where I am!" She reached up to brush a remaining tear from her Mayor's face. "Have a good night, Regina, and I'll see you in the morning. Get some sleep!"

"You too. Thank you Granny."

I needed a pickmeup after this episode. So I wrote this. I think I just gave myself more feels.

Let me know what you thought!
