"Here."

Dean thrust a small, poorly wrapped bundle into Cas's open hands. The small package was wrapped in the front page of the Rivertown gazette.

"I don't…" Cas began. Dean raised one hand to silence him.

"It's Christmas, Cas. Just take the gift." Dean shifted uncomfortably. He obviously hadn't given many gifts in his life to people other than Sam. Cas took the package, fearing that he'd disappointed Dean in his confusion. Of course he knew about Christmas, but it was a very human invention and went uncelebrated by his brothers and sisters. He hadn't even noticed the decorations around the small town that now seemed so glaringly obvious. Cas smiled at the present more for Dean's benefit than his own and began carefully unwrapping the gift. He almost slowed when he saw the look of impatience written across Dean's face. It wouldn't kill the hunter to wait a little for something. When he finally finished, he held a long black tie much the same as his own blue one.

"I don't understand. I do not need new clothing." He did not want to seem ungrateful, but he was rather fond of his vessel's clothing. Dean clapped him on the shoulder.

"There comes a time in every young man's life when he receives his first big boy tie." Dean joked before seeing Cas's serious expression. "I mean, you're gonna be with us more now. You've got to look the part. There's a full suit in the car, but this town's newspaper wasn't big enough for a wrap job. Now come on. Sam's been at the library all morning."

Cas loosened his familiar blue tie in the impala's front seat and laid it reverently to the side. He thought for a few moments that he'd been around humans too long. Putting that much thought into clothing certainly wasn't an angelic concern, but that thought went out the window as he draped the black tie around his neck and realized he had no idea how the original had been tied.

"You need help?" Dean asked as they pulled into the small library parking lot. Cas rolled his eyes.

"I am an angel of the lord Dean. I can figure this out." Cas replied before diverting all of his focus onto the task at hand. Five silent minutes later Cas looked up.

Dean wordlessly fixed the man's tie with a promise that he would teach him later. Cas agreed, but frowned when he thought of all that his own siblings had taught him before the fighting. Heck, he thought, maybe Christmas would help them as much as it did Earth.
