"Kakashi?"

A lone eye continued to stare at the stone in front of him. The smaller chuunin stood behind the jounun, staring at the back of the silver haired legend.

"I didn't know where you were." Iruka explained quietly. "I thought maybe you were mad at me or something." Iruka's voice faded into silence. Kakashi winced but still could not bring himself face Iruka. He could not bear to have Iruka upset at him, today of all days.

"But then I saw the date and I realized," Iruka continued, his voice softening, "I thought maybe you would be here."

Kakashi turned to face Iruka and saw the bouquet of white and yellow daffodils Iruka held in his hand. "I brought these, since it's his birthday. I wasn't sure but I hoped-" Iruka was cut off as a familiar vest buried itself against him. "Thank you."
