Hey there ~ ^_^ Krazykoreangurl here(: Here's a short one shot for our dearest Hinata-chan. Kinda angsty-ish, but hey ~ ^^;;

This takes place anytime after the Chuunin Exams - let your imagination run wild. ^^

Disclaimer: I do not own

Hinata stood in the clearing, still and focused.

She was aware that most of the Hyuuga Clan were probably scurrying around, searching for her in the trees and every nook and cranny. And though she felt a pang of guilt like she normally did, she realized that she never felt more… free.

Freedom.

That word sounded weird on her tongue, almost like a foreign word never meant to be used by the likes of her. Though Neji had more than once stated, when the two were still children, that the Branch House was born to serve the Main Branch because it was their fate, she was pleased to see that his views of the world had changed slightly. He now could go through his life without the feeling of oppression that she only knew so well.

However, no matter who served the Main Branch, there was no such thing as silly as freedom for them. They were still just as bound as ever to their rules, traditions, and culture. Hinata knew that it was to preserve the strength of the Byakugan, but there was no denying that Neij was far stronger and far more talented than her. She would openly admit it without shame.

In a sense, Neji had more freedom than her, the one that he at one point in time felt he was chained to forever.

In reality, she was chained to the name "Hyuuga" then he ever was and ever would be.

It was only in moments like these, where she could find refuge from those who constantly worried over her, from those who pined over her, from those who tried to control her.

It was only in moments like these where she felt truly free, able to stretch her wings out towards the sun.

Fin.

Reviews are welcome! :D Flames are not ~ ^_^

P.S. As you can see at the end, if you noticed, the last three words are "... towards the sun." It coincides w/the title of this short piece. I used "Towards the Sun" because I read somewher a long time ago that that was what "Hinata" meant. I did some more research, and it means "facing the sun" or something like that, but I like "towards the sun" better. ^^;; (so sue me~)
