For The Love of A Demon
Rin's story
"Love is a neverending story." – Me
"Is that all you got, Tachi-kun?" Rin said as she expertly dodged blows aimed at her. The bells wrapped intricately into her hair jingled violently as she swung her sword towards the old warrior's chest. The long and multi-layered kimono she wore hindered her movements, but that was the whole point of the exercise. Her elaborate hair and clothes, a bright orange kimono with a large apple tree's branches fanning out, were meant to see if she could fight and defend her Lord no matter the situation.
"Rin-chan, stop dozing off! I almost took your head off with that last swing."
"Oh! Gomen, Tachi-kun. I was just thinking about the upcoming festival."
"Worried you won't be able to protect him?" He said as he dropped his fighting stance and led Rin under the shade of a small tree. She flopped down unceremoniously, taking off the multiple layers of her complicated garment.
"It's not that, really. It's just… Sesshomaru-sama doesn't need a personal guard, so why make it into such a big deal?"
"I'm sure Sesshomaru-sama has his reasons." Tachi said, although he already had a few ideas as to why. He looked over at the young ningen lying next to him. She was Laing back in the grass, staring pensievely at the tree leaves. Alter a few minutes of thoughful silence, she stood up and brushed debris off her kimono.
"Come on, Tachi-kun. Let's practice some more."
Rin sighed as she submersed herself into the hot bathwater the pin head from that godforsaken hairstyle finally dissapating. Her hair was long even for human standards, reaching to the backs of her knees. Letting it float around her, she pondered about watt o get her Lord for his birth celebration. 'After all, it's not every day you turn 300', she thought with a wry smirk. But what could she get him that he didn't already have?
After the battle with Naraku, Sesshomaru had left her in Kaede-sama's village, to live with humans. She was 7. Three years later, not long after the young miko Kagome's return, she had thrown a tremendous tantrum to be allowed to stay and serve her Sesshomaru-sama. Although his trademark indifferent expression remained in place, he was slightly shocked at her outburst. Rin was docile, and never temperemental. Soon upon their return to the castle, she approached him to ask him if she could learn to fight. He appointed his oldest and most trusted general, Hakedo Tachi, to train her. She had made quite a few journeys to the taijiya Sango's village, where she lived with the monk and their child.
'I suppose it's children now, since the last time I saw her she was heavy with child.' With that thought, Rin remembered her original plans of what to get Sesshomaru for his day of birth. 'Sesshomaru-sama has everything in the world he could desire…Except for his left arm. Can it be done' She scrambled out of the water in her haste, eagerly grabbing the idea she had come up with. Dressing quickly in a white kimono with blue flowers on it and putting her hair in a sloppy ponytail, she raced out of her room, planning for the trip that lay ahead.
Author's note: Okay, so hi guys! First off, this is my first fanfic, so any/all reviews, comments, death threats, ect. will be greatly appreciated. Probably not so much the death threats, but beggars can't be choosers. ;] anyway, I'm still looking for a beta, and since I'm like a duck in outer space when it comes to the interweb, I'm hoping someone will volunteer? Updates will be random, since I have to hand-write, then transfer to the computer, and since I'm in Dominican Republic till the 31st where the lights go out... Yeah. Enough rambling! :]
