I originally thought of this with Rax in mind but they never had a baby and Danice are expecting so I changed it to them – plus I know you all like a bit of Danice fluff from time to time ;) It's a little oneshot, an alternative to what happened when Trevanion Jr. had its first kick the other day! Enjoy x
Baby kicks & Weetabix
Alice's eyes jolted open. At first she wasn't sure what had woken her, it felt like something had moved under her, as though a spring had snapped in the mattress, but then it happened again. Alice had a feeling she knew what it was, she gently placed her hand on her stomach and felt her baby kick. It was one of the strangest yet most mesmerising things she had ever felt. Memories streamed back from when she was expecting Charlotte, though they were harsh memories, memories of being alone having no one to share times like this with. Alice sat up in bed.
"Danny" she whispered staring at his outstretched body, his head was facing away and was buried into the pillow. "Danny"
"What?" he groaned as she turned the bedside light on.
"It's the baby"
Danny quickly turned in the bed to face her and pulled his head up, leaning on his arm. His protective nature taking over.
"Why? What's wrong?" he asked concerned
"No nothing like that silly" Alice giggled "here feel" she said softly taking his hand and placing it on her bump.
Danny gasped as the baby lightly kicked again, a wide grin spread across his face. Alice beamed back.
"Oh my... just ... wow" He smiled now staring back at the bump "that's our baby"
"I know" she said gently "certainly an active one"
"He'll be running round Leopards Den before he's crawling"
"Yeah well not here but y'know somewhere," Alice sighed
"Hey let's not think about that now" Danny tried to comfort her stroking her cheek "it's not the time to think about that"
"Yeah you're right. Anyway he may be a she."
"We'll see about that" Danny smiled and leant in to kiss her gently.
"Seeing as I'm awake now, I really fancy some-" she began
"Alice! They were not bought for midnight snacking!"Danny exclaimed.
"I know" she said getting out of the bed "they were bought because you love me and husbands should go out of their way to treat their wives".
The one thing Alice had been craving since she fell pregnant was Weetabix, even though she hadn't eaten them for at least 8 years. That was the problem; Weetabix simply didn't exist in South African supermarkets. Danny had managed to find however a small shop in Pretoria that sold English goods, he taken the afternoon off earlier in the week to drive there and buy her some, as well as splash out on some other home comforts – some things just weren't the same! Alice was delighted when Danny presented them to her though she had indulged in them a bit too much and few were remaining in the box.
Alice beamed putting her slippers on her feet
"Treat their wives by driving for an hour and a half and having to pay 50 rand per box just to keep her happy and quiet for once"
"Cheek!" Alice said throwing a cushion in his direction "your wife is carrying your baby and deserves a few luxuries"
She made for the kitchen as Danny turned back over to go back to sleep, the grin not fading from his face.
