A fall breeze picked up throughout Hogwarts, making the mixture of orange and yellow leaves blow in faces of laughing students. Although a solemn boy with too long greasy hair sat against a particularly large tree. In his bony, pale white hands he clutched a worn and tethered Dark Arts book. His sallow, almost black eyes peeked out again and again to glance at a beautiful girl with fiery red hair and shocking green eyes he had grown to care for deeply. Feeling the gaze of someone, a Miss Lily Evans looked to see her childhood best friend, she smiled lightly at him.

Severus Snape's eyes lit up and his lips instantly formed into a smile. Severus found it quite curious that she had this effect on him. "Sev" she mouthed, motioning for him to join her. Lily had not spoken to her longtime friend in far too long. Taking one glance around Lily, Severus realized she was also surrounded by that arrogant Potter.. and his little friends. Plopping down on the plush couch her bright green eyes locked onto Severus' black ones. "Sev!" she said excitedly, patting the seat next to her "I haven't spoken to you in the longest time!" Snape hesitantly sat next to Lily, tapping his fingers on his knee nervously. She placed her fair hand upon Severus' "What's wrong Severus?"

Snape smiled ever so lightly at Lily, "Nothing Lily, just…" a memory flashed through his mind. 'Sitting on a lush green hill young Severus was speaking to Lily about Hogwarts. Petunia had interrupted their talk by saying "Lily! Stop talking to your freak of a boyfriend before I tell mum!"

"He's not my boyfriend Tuney!" Lily defended, her eyes filled with shock at the accusation "We don't like each other like that!"

Petunia set her hands on her hips, "Then he sure seems to fancy you…" she spoke, looking at Severus skeptically; pursing her lips. A now flushed Snape looked down in embarrassment. Lily looked at her best friend curiously as her big sister took hold of her arm and made her come home.'

Lily's voice was soft as she murmured "After all this time?"

Severus' voice was at a whisper as he spoke, "Always." With that, Lily kissed him ever so lightly, smiling at him…
