Savior
Edward Elric, the Fullmetal Alchemist, stood on the edge of an old wooden bridge. Icy waters raged below. Ed stood there unmoving and pondering how long it would take for him to die. Ed, of course, had no intention of jumping into the river. No matter how often he had contemplated suicide, he could never bring himself to do it. A bitter laugh emitted from his throat as a single thought flew through his mind; An alchemic prodigy was too afraid to take the cowards way out of life. He changed his position so that he was sitting on the snow covered ledge with his legs dangling over the rushing torrent of water. A shout of his alchemist name had him twisting his body around quickly. Roy Mustang was looking at him with horror marring his normally peaceful features. Edward mentally panicked as he realized that he was falling as the bridge gave way underneath him. He never knew what happened. The blond rushed to gulp in some air before he splashed into the freezing water below him. After a couple seconds of disorientation, Ed swam up, trying to fight against the raging current. It was no use; he was becoming weaker by the second. The words I'm Sorry ran through his mind as the last of his precious air slipped through his lips in little bubbles. The next thing the young alchemist heard, or rather felt, was him hacking up the river water. Roy's face focused into his view. He gave a small smile as Roy hugged and chastised him. His smile grew inevitably wider as he heard the distinct whisper of I Love You slide from the older man's blue lips. Ed frowned at the sight of the older alchemist's lips being blue but figured that his own probably weren't much better. As Roy peered down at him, Ed mouthed the words Love you too and sighed. Roy built them a roaring fire that illuminated their faces and warmed their freezing, abused bodies. They huddled together as Roy called for backup on an amazingly dry cell phone1. When Ed had voiced his wonder about it aloud Roy had simply told him that he tossed it aside before diving after Ed. The younger male smiled. He mouthed the words Thank You because his throat felt raw from the intake of the salty river water. They shared an occasional kiss as they waited from help to arrive.
