DM Edith Goes Bucking Bronco
''Everyone nearly ready?'' Gru asked poking his head around the door of the girls' room ''Eet's nearly time to get going to de big ranch!''. ''Em almost'' Margo replied. ''Oh yes!'' Edith cheered, she had always dreamed of becoming a cowgirl and lassoing up animals.
That, she thought, would be like a great big adventure. Edith had watched the movie ''Bob the Builder: Built to Be Wild'' for as long as she could ever remember. Her favourite song was ''Lucky Muck'' near the end of the film. Edith wondered if she could be lucky too. She had watched both the UK and the US versions of the song on a website called YouTube.
Edith couldn't understand why Muck was a male in UK and a female in US. Didn't characters normally be one gender or the other? To Edith, Muck was better as a female. That was like Muck was a girl, like Edith was. What's more it would stop Dizzy being the only female machine in the team.
Edith finished stuffing the last of her cowgirl gear into her suitcase [being careful not to forget her ninja kit], then she carried it into the front hall. How much longer until it was time to get going? ''Come on den girls!'' Gru called, ''Eet's time to go''.
Everyone stuffed their suitcases into the Gru mobile. Edith listened to songs about cowboys and cowgirls in the Wild West on her black iPod. It was dark by the time they reached the Wild West Ranch. The family checked in at the Hotel Cheyenne, and headed to the room they were staying in together.
Early the next morning, the family headed over to where the rodeo was to take place. As everyone was getting onto a horse each, Edith was the keenest about riding she didn't look where she was jumping and leaped right onto a wild buffalo by mistake.
The buffalo was so startled by the weight of a little girl landing on his back he took off like a rocket. Edith held on for dear life while her family watched in amazement as she tore around the racetrack like mad.
When it was time to hand out all the prizes, Edith won first please for such an extreme piece of bucking bronco. ''Well done young lady'' the judge said shaking Edith's hand and giving a 1st place rosette. ''I have never seen any child do such an extreme action ''.
''Ye ha!'' Edith replied sheepishly. It hadn't been what she had meant, but it had been like a big adventure.
The End
