Title: Wide Shut
Drabble: #51
Rave's prompt: Rabbit
Randomly selected pairing: Kenkeru
Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon.
Notes: Ken in uniform and Takeru in a bottle…

Takeru is crouched at the end of the garden; Ken stands behind him, arms crossed and an exasperated expression on his face. The poor rabbit looks like a deer caught in headlights as Takeru tries to coax it towards him, and it makes no effort to move in any direction. Ken tries, for the third time, to get Takeru to leave the creature alone. But the blonde won't budge, claiming it to be his new pet.

Ken sighs. They don't need a new pet. They don't need any pets at all; they'd never have the time to look after them properly.

Turning big, pleading eyes to his boyfriend, Takeru argues that they can't just leave it here. It'd run into the road or something, and get mangled by a car. Or it'd get eaten by some huge bird, or shot by a hunter and picked up by his dog to be taken home and eaten for dinner. And Takeru can't allow anything like that to happen now that he and this rabbit have made a connection.

Ken raises an eyebrow. The rabbit still hasn't moved; in fact, Ken wouldn't be surprised if it has already died of shock or something similar.

Takeru, on the other hand, pouts. He can't understand how Ken can turn down such an adorable creature. He reaches out to pick it up before Ken quickly grabs his arm, preventing him from actually touching the rabbit. When Takeru gives him a look, he hurriedly explains that the rabbit has probably got myxomatosis and an array of other diseases. Takeru shouldn't touch it.

Now Takeru stands up and wraps his arms around Ken, who returns the gesture without a second thought. Why, he asks, is he so against them owning animals? It'd be like having a baby, but easier since gender dictates that neither of them can get pregnant. It would give them something to mutually love and take care of. There's nothing wrong with that, is there?

Ken gives a sly smile, and tightens his hold. If Takeru wants a pet that badly, he can buy one instead of picking one up from the wild. Besides, it's all academic now because the rabbit has finally had the sense to run away.
