Hermione knows that Ginny has a deeply hidden secret. It's not something as woeful as Riddle's diary, but equally crushing. Hermione silently begs for Ginny to keep that dark material of intangible truth to herself. Somehow she knows she can be selfish this time. Hermione is scared of what secret might hold - she's probably more scared than Ginny is. When they meet every weekend to chat and have some drinks, discussing impossible husbands and disobedient kids, they smile and laugh and giggle. Every time Hermione touches Ginny's soft skin with light goodbye kiss, she feels that dark, deep secret surfacing - if only for a second. Ginny hesitantly moves away and Hermione smiles just a little bit too forcefully. One day she'll accept that this secret is no secret at all. But Ginny is kind enough to let status quo be as it is. And Hermione is grateful.
